Wired Glass Out.
Laminated Safety In.
A classic Victorian front door in Tooting — the outdated wired glass panel swapped for a double laminated safety unit. Cleaner look, better security, fully compliant.

The Brief
One Unit. Big Difference.
This Victorian terraced property in Tooting had its original wired glass panel — that distinctive mesh-embedded glass that was standard in front doors from the 1970s through the early 2000s. It's outdated, thermally poor, and no longer meets modern building safety standards.
The homeowner wanted a clean, modern replacement that kept the character of the red door while upgrading the glass spec. We supplied and fitted a double laminated safety unit — which holds together on impact rather than shattering — providing genuine security improvement and a sharper finish.
Job completed in under two hours. No mess, no disruption. The difference is immediately visible.
Wired Glass Removed
Old panel carefully extracted without damaging the existing door frame or rebate
Double Laminated Unit Fitted
New clear laminated safety glass — two panes bonded together so breakage stays in place
